Remote First Aid
Remote First Aid course that satisfies the criteria for First Aid training for all Outdoor NGB qualifications.
The 2 day Outdoor First Aid course is designed to meet the needs of those working away from immediate assistance (more than 30 mins) in remote and rural regions.
The course delivered over 16 hours meets all the requirements of National Governing Body (NGB) Instructor Awards in the UK. The outdoor course deals with issues involved with the long-term care of casualties in a remote setting.
Our trainers that deliver the outdoor training hold a range of outdoor instructor qualifications, including medical qualifications that bring a wealth of skills and real-time experiences to training sessions.
2 Day Outdoor First Aid training for the outdoors
The course and content is very much aimed at Mountain Leaders and Outdoor activity instructors such as Canoeing, climbing and ski instructors but also very suited to forest leaders and Duke of Edinburgh leaders.
Although it’s recommended that some basic first aid knowledge is held, pre course reading is a requirement for this course. Those attending will also be required to be physically fit and able to work in cold outdoor environments.
This is a very practical, scenario-based course which allows learners to practice skills and contextualise theory in realistic situations.
The course also covers the Emergency First Aid at Work syllabus that meets the requirements of Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations on first aid training, therefore we can provide you with this certificate also.

Super practical covering so many different scenarios, excellent teaching, and was so pleased we didn’t just sit in a classroom doing CPR for 6 hours like most other providers’ courses! Really happy will definitely be back. Thanks Toby, ace job! Production Manager2025-04-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alastair Hopkins2025-03-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a great course. It was full-on over two days, packed with information and the trainer was very knowledgeable. The trainer taught the material well and set up many, life-like first aid scenarios. I will want to go back to the same company in 3 years to renew. Steve Pryce2025-03-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Another great course from Optimal First Aid. Working in the outdoors as I have been for over thirty years now I have attended more than ten so called outdoor first aid courses. The Optimal course has been the most useful and practical by a wide margin and has made me look again at how I approach first aid situations and also what I carry in my pack. Many thanks Toby. Really intuitive and some innovative practical tuition and team exercises to make it really interesting and help understand real life situtations. Andrea Ayres2025-03-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have just completed probably the best First Aid course I have been on in the last 30 years. Practical training focused on relevant scenarios that trained you to assess and think rather than look at a text book. Highly recommended.
