The First Aid at Work certification is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those with the responsibility of being a first aider in the workplace. We offer both First Aid at Work courses as a group booking at your venue.
Our two main first aid courses for the workplace are the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work and the three-day First Aid at Work courses. Both courses are critical to the workplace but sometimes understanding what is best for you and your company can be confusing.
With the importance on developing confidence in an emergency we can provide you with the most up to date and accurate first aid training to suit you and your working environment. All our First Aid training courses comply to the 2021 UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines. With a team of exceptional instructors that have unique knowledge and personal real-life experience we deliver professional training to industry, schools, care homes and social organisations. Our courses are delivered with your specific industry in mind whilst also able to develop bespoke training tailored to suit your specific requirements.

Emergency First Aid at Work
1 day/6 hours
This 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course consists of 6 hours first aid training. This course is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller working environments. The qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first aid needs assessment.
Our Emergency First Aid at Work course meets all criteria set out by the Health and Safety Executive and in accordance with the Resuscitation Council guidelines on treatment.
This first aid training course is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations. If you require more comprehensive training package, look at our 3-day First Aid at Work course.
First Aid at Work
3 days/ 18 hours
This qualification is for those undertaking the role of a first aider in the workplace. The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work course has been developed to support employers to meet their requirements under The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
This first aid training course is delivered over 3 days and covers a wide range of interesting topics which enable the learner to become knowledgeable and confident to deal with a first aid incident or accident. The qualification meets the requirements for training first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first aid needs assessment.

Course Content:
- Vital signs – breathing, level of consciousness, temperature, colour
- Casualty Monitoring and protection
- Incident management – a systematic approach to managing first aid incidents – ABCDE
- Airway Management – causes and treatment of unconscious collapse
- Recovery Positions and other safe airway positions
- Breathing Problems – cardiac arrest CPR in adults and children, drowning CPR
- Heart attack, Angina
- AED / Defibrillator use
- Choking in adults and children
- Circulation Problems – Internal bleeding, external bleeding and treatment for Shock
- Bandaging issues
- Damage – Recognition and treatment of injuries of chest, abdomen, pelvis, leg & arm
- Head and spinal injuries and spinal management, inc. helmet removal
- Common Illnesses – Asthma, Diabetes and Epilepsy
- Dealing with burns
- Dealing with poisons
- Animal bites and stings
- Awareness of current regulations
- Incident reporting and RIDDOR
Assessments:
Both First Aid at Work qualifications are valid for 3 years and is specifically designed for individuals who wish to become the first aider in their workplace or those already appointed and needing to requalify.
Each learner is continually assessed throughout and must demonstrate competence in all the assessed skills to gain certification. Learners will also be required to pass a multiple-choice question test at the end of the course.
First Aid at Work certificates
This First Aid at Work course is certified by Optimal First Aid and the first aid certificate complies with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Certificates are valid for three years.
