You can gain many valuable skills by enrolling in our first aid training courses. Most significantly, you will acquire the skills and self-assurance necessary to handle an emergency. We provide businesses throughout the Southwest region of England with both the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and the First Aid at Work (FAW). Our First Aid at Work courses are designed to assist employers in fulfilling their obligations under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, and they satisfy all standards established by the Health and Safety Executive as well as the Resuscitation Council’s treatment guidelines.
Basic first aid skills include knowing how to evaluate the scene and treat a casualty appropriately by using a defibrillator or performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The mainstay of workplace first aid courses are these life-saving techniques. In addition to teaching students how to identify and treat conditions like airway obstructions, choking, bleeding, shock, and fractures, First Aid at Work courses also teach students how to recognize the warning signs and symptoms of serious illness and injury. Additionally, you will learn how to handle medical emergencies like burns, poisoning, heart attacks, and electric shocks. In order to reduce the risk of injury to both you and other people, you will also learn the fundamentals of infection control.
EXCELLENT Based on 210 reviews Steve Pryce2025-03-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Another great course from Optimal First Aid. Working in the outdoors as I have been for over thirty years now I have attended more than ten so called outdoor first aid courses. The Optimal course has been the most useful and practical by a wide margin and has made me look again at how I approach first aid situations and also what I carry in my pack. Many thanks Toby. Really intuitive and some innovative practical tuition and team exercises to make it really interesting and help understand real life situtations. Practical training focused on relevant scenarios that trained you to assess and think rather than look at a text book. Highly recommended. Dave Cookson2025-03-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Toby was a first class trainer and there was a fantastic mix of classroom and real example training outside in live environments. Very in depth course and came away feeling much more confident with First Aid and approach Chris Mitchell2025-02-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 5-Star Review for First Aid Course I recently attended a first aid course, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The instructor was highly knowledgeable, engaging, and made the learning process both informative and practical. The course covered essential life-saving skills, including CPR, wound care, and dealing with emergencies, all explained in a clear and hands-on manner. What stood out the most was the practical approach—getting to practice real-life scenarios boosted my confidence in handling emergency situations. The training materials were well-organized, and there was plenty of time for questions and interaction. I now feel much more prepared to respond in an emergency, whether at work or in everyday life. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to gain valuable first aid skills! Olly Hewins2025-02-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was my second Outdoor First Aid course with Toby and Optimal, and I will return again in 3 years. Fantastic course, very well delivered with lots of practicals. Toby’s delivery is superb with a lot of first hand experience. I recommend this course to anyone who works in the outdoor environment. Robbie Mack2025-02-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I just finished a 2-day Outdoor First Aid course on Dartmoor with Optimal First Aid. It's always a pain taking days out for training, but this felt very worth it. Toby was engaging and made the learning relevant to us for our various professional needs. Plenty of practical and interactive work helped get the techniques stuck in. They are long and full days, so I will decompressing the knowledge for a while. Obviously, I hope I don't need to practice anything we learned at work, but I would now feel confident in my own response if accidents do happen. There was no powerpoint! This means you are less likely to drop off, and you can tell the trainer knows their stuff if they aren't having to read as they go through. Would recommend. Lots of information and practical work. I'm very thankful to him as I feel he focused on us actually understanding everything rather than just telling us what we should know. Thanks again Toby.
